PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the Iligan Developmental Playschool for Special Children, Inc. is directed towards developing the child to the higher level of their God given potential and to allow them to develop a greater sense of self-worth and confidence regardless of their physical or neurological limitations. It is our belief that all children have the right to be happy within the limitation that their diagnosis implies. However, these limitations should not be the cause for not trying to develop skills to the maximum of their potential.

" I am only one, but I am one,
I cannot do everything, but I can
do something
That I cannot do everything is no
reason
For me not doing the things I can do."

The anonymous quote sums up the cry of children with special educational needs. That is, to have a venue such as our school provides, to help them attain reasonable developmental goals.

OBJECTIVES
The main objective of Special Education is to assess the educational disability of the child so the child can function in a "mainstream" school setting. Special Education in itself is not an end process for many children. However, those children with permanent brain damage, Down’s Syndrome, and other more disabling neurological problems may not be able to mainstream. These children are taught activities of daily living and some degree of independence as far as their condition permits.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
The Iligan Learning Playhouse for Special Children, Inc., an affiliate of Cebu Learning Playhouse is one of the few schools of it’s kind that offers one-on-one teaching methods tailored to meet the individual learning needs of the special child, that are not addressed by other institutions. We employ a method of positive reinforcement practice in a non-punitive setting to encourage behavior modification towards a more socially accepted behavior pattern. Individual teaching strategies are designed to center on the special needs of each student, based on diagnosis and observation. Methods are modified according to the responses of the child.
